Haruka times are counted from JR West's Haruka timetable (weekday departures from the airport). Regular JR and Nankai fares come from JR West's route finder andNankai's route search for Wednesday 4 November 2026; both call their results a guide. Fares do not say "incl. tax" because the operators' pages do not say so.
Who can use the HARUKA One-way Ticket?
JR West sells the HARUKA One-way Ticket only to people with a passport issued by a foreign government who enter Japan as a "Temporary Visitor". Japanese nationals cannot use it, even with permanent residence abroad. JR West says the ticket is "not available for purchase within Japan". You can book it through JR-West Online Train Reservation (paid by credit card), or buy a WEST QR voucher from a travel agency outside Japan and scan its QR code at the ticket gate. Without it, the Haruka costs ¥3,060 to Kyoto or ¥2,380 to Osaka in a non-reserved seat.
Older guides recommend the "ICOCA & HARUKA" set. JR West's page for it no longer exists, and its current English ticket list shows the HARUKA One-way Ticket instead.
Luggage
- Haruka: JR West says oversized baggage needs a reservation only on the Tokaido, Sanyo, Kyushu and Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen, not on conventional lines such as the Haruka.
- Rapi:t: Nankai says there is storage space for larger luggage near each door.
- Limousine bus: up to 2 pieces per person, 30 kg in total and no longer than 2 m.
- NearMe: the first suitcase is free; extra items cost from ¥1,000.
